Be the Beat with Grant Collins

Be the Beat is a music and dance workshop where students are given the opportunity to view an avant guarde artist in action. Grant Collins, a drummer recognised as one of the best in the world, demonstrates his musical prowess as students don’t just listen but join in the music-making. They are lead through a series of South American rhythms by Grant and Kaitlin Bell, performer, culminating in a performance where everyone becomes the beat! Show suitable for primary and secondary students.

Dance In Aus!

This fun and energetic workshop uses well known Aussie themes and icons to help students create their own dance/movement performance.

The workshop explores movement associated with famous Australian icons, sporting activities and animals, and demonstrates how these simple ideas can become a dance performance. Led by two experienced dance teachers, Nick Knijnenburg, QAC’s Education Liaison Officer, and Kaitlin Bell, who has just returned from QAC’s Be the Beat with Grant Collins tour, the students are divided into groups and are led through a series of exercises, including creating their own choreography. The workshop culminates with short performances by each of the groups to an original score (which the school gets to keep!)

With a distinctly Aussie flavour this workshop promises an hour of fun and creativity that will show that everyone can dance!

For more information or to book the show call QAC on 3846 7477.
